Waikura Joint Stations strategic goals continue to focus on the long-term aim of providing a modern dry stock farming business that has:
  • Grown and developed a dedicated team of people that deliver a high performing dry stock farming operation in a challenging remote location
  • Industry leading environmental principles and associated outcomes
  • A core focus on breeding across the various stations
  • Developed a 50/50 ratio of Cattle and Sheep based on high-quality stock
  • Maintained farm supporting infrastructure to industry leading standards utilizing modern technology where possible
  • Actual weather in the valley: Waikura, Pakira
Farming has always been the core business of the Waikura Valley and with the now combined operation of Te Kumi, Pakira, Waikura, Rewetu and Mohau Stations improvements are set to be made to further complement this history and enhance the whole operation based on modern farming techniques.
In 2021 we decided to focus only on breeding, as previously we did also finish some stock. This decision was made to simplify the operation, while taking in consideration the topography of the land.
Our team have made significant improvements in recent years to what has traditionally been low priority infrastructure across the stations. This has resulted in significant investment in infrastructure including Fencing, Wool sheds, Housing, Internal tracks and roading and operational equipment. Looking forward, further infrastructure enhancements will be made with Fencing, Pasture improvements and Stock quality a key focus.
